Who can claim DASP? You must be a temporary visa holder (not Australian/NZ citizen, not permanent resident) who has permanently departed Australia and whose visa has expired or been cancelled.

How to Claim DASP
- Leave Australia permanently — your visa must have expired or been cancelled
- Apply online via the ATO DASP portal at ato.gov.au/super (search "DASP")
- Provide documentation: passport, visa details, super fund details, Australian bank or foreign bank account
- ATO contacts your super fund to verify your balance and process the payment
- Payment is made directly to your nominated bank account (Australian or overseas). Tax is withheld automatically.
Processing time: typically 28 days after the ATO receives your claim. Can take longer if your fund is slow to respond.
ATO-held super: If your super was transferred to the ATO as unclaimed super (common for temp residents who left without claiming), you claim it directly from the ATO via the same DASP portal. The tax rates are the same.
